Central Bank: Decision to Freeze Accounts with Outdated Information Within Two Months

The Central Bank of Sudan issued a decision on Wednesday requiring banks to update the information of customers whose records have not been updated and to freeze their accounts within a maximum period of two months, effective August 1. The measure comes as part of efforts to tighten regulations aimed at combating money laundering, terrorist financing, and the financing of the proliferation of weapons.

The bank also directed all banks to provide and operate specialized technological systems for continuously monitoring account activity and banking transactions, enabling the detection of unusual patterns in financial operations.

The measures form part of the regulatory and supervisory controls being implemented by the Central Bank to strengthen oversight of the banking sector and combat financial crimes.
