Major Decisions on Wheat Cultivation

A member of the Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber, has discussed with the leaders of the National Association of Irrigated Project Farmers questions related to agriculture and production.
He stressed during the meeting that these issues would be resolved shortly by the Minister of Cabinet Affairs who will make decisions over those questions. The farmers presented a file containing the challenges they face including an integrated vision on the issues and problems of the agricultural sector. Regarding the question of financing, which was halted due to the cross-cuttings of some procedures, was touched on, and Jaber directed the Minister of Cabinet Affairs that the matter be resolved as quickly as possible in order to avoid failure of the wheat planting season.
He stressed the great and growing interest in the issues and problems of farmers, and promised to solve irrigation problems with agricultural schemes in Gezira, Al-Rahad, and Al-Suki, as well as identifying pump problems.
The farmers’ leaders, including Al-Sadiq Al-Amin Ahmed Al-Faki, Abdel-Azim Wad Al-Qoum, and Bakri Mohammed Tom, explained the overall issues and problems of the agricultural sector which include financing, marketing, irrigation, files of regulations of production professions within irrigated schemes, and their importance.
Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber stressed the need for farmers to be present.
Regarding the plans, programs and strategies of institutions concerned with the agricultural sector, he emphasized reviewing this file and taking action in the near future with the relevant authorities.
