Sudan and Eritrea are preparing to implement a flexible border trade upon the opening of the Al-Lafa, Awad and Karawit crossings during the next period.
In the meantime, Lieutenant General, Hasab Elkarim Adam Elnour, Director of Customs Forces, Head of the border crossings committee between Sudan and Eritrea, has discussed during the meeting held in his office on Wednesday noon regarding the latest arrangements made for opening the crossings with of State of Eritrea, the Committee’s final report.
He underscored the need to tighten coordination and follow up with the Eritrean side, including speeding up the opening of the crossings, defining commodities and goods, the volume of trade exchange expected between the two countries and arrangement to conclude a flexible border trade agreement with the neighboring State of Eritrea’s in addition to the passenger’s movement, stressing the importance of opening customs enclosure to expedite clearance process.
It’s worth noting that the committee last November has during a field visit, got a briefing at the preparation made for the opening in the near future, in response to the directives of the President of the Sovereign Council.
