Saudi Arabia to Chair the 11th Meeting of the IWHC

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been elected as the president of the 11th meeting of the Islamic World Heritage Committee for the next four years, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.
According to the SPA, Advisor of the Saudi National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, Eng. Mohamed Al-Aidroos elected as the President of the committee representing Saudi Arabia at the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) on Monday.
The development is part of the new composition of the committee, which was adopted during a meeting of the Ministers of Culture in the Islamic World, hosted by Qatar in September 2023.
A statement by the ICESCO said that, during the meeting, discussions focused around the submissions made by member countries to register their historical sites and cultural elements on the heritage lists in the Islamic world.
