USA: A Planned Al-Burhan-Hemedti Meeting

Sudan Events/Follow-ups

The US State Department said that they have reached an agreement stipulating that General Burhan and General Hemedti meet and work on implementing a ceasefire.
Anthony Blinken revealed in statements on Friday, that they have actively participated during the recent period in attempts to end the horror of the ongoing civil war between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.
About a week ago, we helped reach an agreement for the two leaders – Generals Burhan and Hemedti – to meet and adhere to a ceasefire.
The American intervention comes after continuous attacks on its policies towards Sudan, in addition to the absence of global diplomacy on playing roles in the context of the Sudanese crisis. American strategic expert Cameron Hudson criticized this absence in a post in which he said, “The terror that swept Sudan was met with sterile diplomacy, meaningless statements, and sanctions, late and weak response to humanitarian appeals, and the Security Council was only able to agree to close its irrelevant political mission.
Blinken stressed “Now this meeting must happen, and we are pushing hard for it to happen. It is the product of effort and daily work carried out by our diplomats, as well as many others around the world, including the African Union, IGAD, and other partners.”
