An American Woman with a Double Uterus gives birth to twins girls

In a rare case, a woman from the US state of Alabama who had two uteruses as a result of a birth defect gave birth to healthy twins.
Kelsey Hatcher, who is now a mother of five children, announced on social media that she and her husband, Caleb, welcomed Roxy Layla on Tuesday evening and then gave birth to her sister, Rebel Laken, the next morning at Birmingham Hospital at the University of Alabama.
“Our two miracle baby girls were born! They decided they were rare enough statistically to have their own birthdays too!” Kelsey wrote on Instagram.
Hatcher has a rare double uterus and was carrying a fetus on each side, which is also a rare pregnancy with a one-in-a-million chance of it occurring.
Shweta Patel, Kelsey’s obstetrician, told a hospital press briefing: “I took care of Kelsey during her third pregnancy and knew that she had a double uterus, but at the time it was just one fetus… Two girls in two uteruses was a real medical surprise.”
Therefore, Kelsey’s pregnancy was deemed high-risk and she was delivered at 39 weeks. After a total of 20 hours of labor, the girls were born.
Although a normal twin pregnancy is defined as the presence of two children in one uterus, Richard Davis, a doctor who participated in monitoring the pregnancy, said, “It is possible to describe the two girls as non-identical twins.”
The first child was born naturally, as was the case with Kelsey’s three previous children, while her sister was born via caesarean section.
“I can’t wait to share the whole Christmas story with you guys!… While we’re all home now, we’re going to take our time to connect, heal, and enjoy the holidays!” Kelsey wrote on social media.
