Guterres: We seek to settle the conflict in Sudan to preserve the state

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that the international organization will intensify its efforts to alleviate the human suffering of the Sudanese and contribute to efforts to settle the current conflict in a way that preserves the entity of the state and its institutions.

At the conclusion of his visit to New York to participate in the high-level meetings of the United Nations General Assembly, he met with Antonio Guterres, the head of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan.

Al-Burhan expressed his appreciation for the role played by the Secretary-General and his personal interest in the situation in Sudan, praising the humanitarian role played by the United Nations in light of the current circumstances facing the Sudanese people as a result of crimes committed by the rebel Rapid Support Forces, stressing the Sudanese government’s readiness to cooperate with the United Nations in Everything that would alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people.
