FAO Warns of Breeding Wave of “First Generation Locusts” That Will Hit Sudan
Khartoum – Sudan Events
The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) warned in a special bulletin today, linked to the Desert Locust Information Service, that its forecasts for the period from September 2023 until mid-November 2023 indicate a wave of reproduction of first-generation locusts in Sudan, where groups of nymphs and insects may be present.
The full wave extends to include the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and northwestern Somalia, and continues for a period until March.
The authority adds that its indicators expect higher than usual rainfall during the last period of October, which will contribute to increased reproduction.
