Sudanese Minister of Finance: Salary Increase not a Possibilty

The Sudanese Minister of Finance, Jibril Ibrahim, said that it was not possible to increase employees’ salaries at the present time. However, he originally agreed to pay these salaries in full due to the ongoing war between the army and the Rapid Support since mid-April.

The Sudanese minister added: “A large portion of public sector employees do not receive more than 60% of their wages.”

He continued: “The employees now receive 60% of their salaries. We seek to give them 100% of their salaries. If they had other allowances that were cut off, we can return them to them soon as revenues continue to increase, but we did not talk about increasing salaries,” according to the new agency “Arab World.”
