Sudan Officially Announces Resumption of Relations with Iran and Reopens Embassy

The Sudanese Foreign Ministry officially announced Sudan’s resumption of diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday that this announcement comes as a result of high-level contacts that took place during the last period between the two parties.
The statement added that the governments of the two countries agreed that the relationship between them would be based on mutual respect for sovereignty, equality, and common interests, in addition to peaceful coexistence.
The Foreign Ministry concluded its statement by announcing that the two countries agreed to take the necessary measures to open their embassies soon. They also agreed to make the necessary arrangements for the exchange of official delegations to discuss ways of cooperation between the two countries.
