The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development revealed that the number of countries defaulting on the repayment of principal loans reached 25 countries, with the total value of arrears of installments for withdrawn and unpaid loans amounting to about 118 million Kuwaiti dinars ($381 million), 90% of which belong to the Syria, Sudan, Yemen, Cuba and North Korea. The Kuwait Fund indicated that they are sovereign loans that are not cancelled, written off, or waived.

This came in a memorandum to the Fund attached by Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Al-Sabah, in response to a parliamentary question by MP Jarrah Al-Fawzan, regarding the number of countries that defaulted or refused to repay the loans granted to them (Wednesday).
