Mass Rape by RSF Revealed
Sudan Events – Talal Mudathir
The Strategic Initiative for Women in the Horn of Africa (Sayha), a national, regional organisation founded in 1995 and operating in several countries, including Sudan, revealed an increase in cases of individual and group rape of women during the war.
The network said that 73% of the women it was able to communicate with confirmed the involvement of Rapid Support militia soldiers in the crime.
The network stated on Monday that it had noticed that the majority of sexual violence practised against women in Darfur and the outskirts of Khartoum was based on gender.
Women working as volunteers during the war were not spared from these incidents as they were targeted in Khartoum and other places, with a noticeable increase in the number of cases that were subjected to gang rape.
