US State Department Issues Statement and Stresses: There is no Appropriate Military Solution to Conflict

The US State Department said on Sunday that the United States, Saudi Arabia, the Intergovernmental Authority for East African Development (IGAD), in addition to the African Union, have all relaunched humanitarian ceasefire talks between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Matthew Miller, spokesman for the ministry, reiterated his previous statements, stressing that “there is no appropriate military solution to this conflict.”

The spokesman added, “We call on the SAF and the RSF to deal with the talks constructively, with the imperative of saving lives, reducing fighting, and creating a path out of the conflict through negotiation.”

A statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced on Sunday the start of talks between the SAF and the RSF in the city of Jeddah.
