Sudan Events – Nawal Shanan
Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim said despite efforts exerted to provide medicine supply, still there is great need.
Ibrahim confirmed efforts to provide medicines, especially those related to emergencies, through the Ministry of Finance and donors.
In addition, during his inspection of medical supply stores in the Red Sea state in the east of the country (Thursday), Ibrahim handed the state its share of the King Salman Centre for Relief and Humanitarian Aid grant, in addition to inaugurating the cold chain storage capacity to compensate for the loss of the main stores in Khartoum, noting that another chain would be provided in Gezira state.
During the meeting in the medical supplies hall with the director of the health sector in charge of the state, he pledged to overcome the problems facing the sector while directing immediate work in emergency departments.
He also directed for transparency in the distribution of medicines delivered to the state through the relevant committee.
Sudan lost its stock of medicines, which is sufficient for a year, worth $500 million, following the Rapid Support militia’s occupation of the main headquarters for medical supplies in Khartoum.
