IDPs Reject Decision of Gedaref Governor

The forced eviction of displaced people IDPs in Gedaref, Eastern Sudan, led to limited tensions in the city due to the rejection of the decision by residents .
A police force carried out on Wednesday the decision of the governor of Gedaref State – Chairperson of the State Security Committee to evacuate the interior of Omar bin Abdulaziz, which is used as a shelter for hundreds of war displaced people, and evacuated them by force without providing an alternative, forcing them to enter into altercations with the police, then they went with their luggage towards the house of the governor of the state and gathered there before being surrounded by units of the police and the army demanding to provide alternative homes or stay in the governor’s house .
Gedaref State had notified the displaced in the city’s boarding houses and schools that it intends to disperse them in preparation for the beginning of the academic year and open the doors of universities without providing them with alternatives.
