Sudanese Islamic Movement Comment on Statement of Saudi-American Mediation

Sudan Events – Talal Ismail

Sudanese Islamic Movement, led by Ali Karti, confirmed its support to the Sudanese army (SAF) in its battle against the dissolved Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The movement said in a press statement seen by Sudan Events: “We confirm that we are continuing, Good willing, with our support and backing of the SAF in the field of real negotiation, that is the battlefield, our focus now is on restoring the dignity of the citizen and the land and retribution for his display from agents, hired hands and mercenaries.”

He added: “The commitments that the facilitators have included will not distract us from our duty to defend the dignity of our people behind our valiant army. Rather, they will increase our conviction that what is being planned to divide this country requires more effort and sacrifice from us.”
The Islamic Movement responded to a statement by the Saudi-American mediation regarding the commitments from the discussions in Jeddah by saying: “The Sudanese people look forward to seeing in the statement an implement of the outcomes of the first round concluded, that was the exit of the militia from homes, hospitals, and civilian objects and the opening of roads. However, it was not addressed in this statement which indicates the failure of the facilitators and their inability to persuade the aggressor party to fulfill its obligations that it signed.”

The Islamic Movement indicated that what the facilitators tended to (in the Jeddah Platform mediation) of interfering, exerting pressure, bypassing the topics of the talks, and interjecting issues that are not related to the conflict, clearly demonstrated the facilitators’ leniency towards the demands of the rebellious RSF militia, and discredited the neutrality of the mediation.
