Artillery shelling by the RSF militia burned down a Hospital in Omdurman
Sudan Events – Talal Mudathir
Artillery shelling carried out by the Rapid Support militia on Tuesday in Omdurman, one of the three towns that make up the capital, Khartoum, caused the “Asia Hospital” located in the “Martyrs” area – in the center of the city – to catch fire and then burned completely.
Rapid Support had previously targeted the “Al-Naw” Hospital in Omdurman, the emergency department, on the sixth of last October, which resulted in the death of civilians in front of the emergency department, and the serious injury of others, in addition to the shelling of Jabal Awlia Hospital, the kidney department and laboratories.
The Sudanese Ministry of Health condemned the attacks in a statement.
The World Health Organization had said that attacks on medical facilities limit access to life-saving health care, putting more lives at risk, and that attacks on health care facilities represent a flagrant violation of international law and the right to health, and that 67% of hospitals in Sudan are out of service due to the war and warned in a joint statement with UNICEF last October that further attacks and disruption of health and nutrition services in Sudan could lead to the loss of the lives of more than 10,000 children by the end of 2023.
