Girls Theater: Acting to usher in Change
Sudan Events – Haffiya Elyas
The activity supervisor of the Distress Theater Program, (Girls Theater Project), Al-Hadi Al-Shawaf told Sudan Events that, Distress Theater Program (Al-Sheddah) is a theater that is performed within the context of extremely complex security, political, economic, environmental, health and psychological conditions. Taking inspiration from the current Sudanese reality in which all these conditions have come together, the project works to adapt these conditions in creating a theatrical performance, making theater a tool for thinking, motivating people to ask questions. Change to move away from extreme conditions to better conditions in which human dignity is preserved, alive and dead.
Because it is a theater that is aware of its role towards its community and knows the challenges and obstacles it faces, so it turns to aesthetic artistic solutions that empowers it to present the theatrical show several times, adapting the transitional circumstance imposed in its favor, Al-Shawaf said.
Al-Shawaf added that the project is under the supervision of Walid Al-Alfi.
