Proposals to Support Sudan’s Agriculture Sector

Advisor to the Sudanese Minister of Industry and Trade Mohammed Al-Otaibi suggested during the session to achieve food security at the Conference on Humanitarian Issues in Sudan organized in Cairo, that focus should be placed on ways to support the agricultural sector in the country during the coming period through laws and legislation.
Al-Otaibi suggested the formation of a coordination mechanism with stakeholders and partners to develop a conceptual model, an emergency national strategy and an action plan for the cooperative sector in light of the war in Sudan, calling on all parties to allow within their areas of control the free work of member crews and cooperation staff.
Awareness-raising, education, training and capacity-building programmes should be supported, besides, activating cooperative credit and savings cooperatives with the Central Bank of Sudan and the General Administration of Cooperation according to the guidelines of (ILO) should be the financial base for cooperatives for a cooperative financial network capable of reaching everyone through such means as (Mobile money)
