Argentine media revealed the scenes of the altercation between Argentina captain Lionel Messi and Inter Miami, and Brazil and Real Madrid star Rodrigo during the confrontation that brought the two teams together at dawn on Wednesday.
Argentina beat Brazil 1-0 in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The start of the match was delayed for nearly half an hour due to the withdrawal of the Argentine team, in protest against the assault of Brazilian security on tango fans in the stands of the Maracanã stadium.
After returning to the pitch, Lionel Messi engaged in a heated skirmish with Rodrigo.
Argentine channel TYC Sports reported part of the verbal altercation between Messi and the Brazilian striker.
Rodrigo reacted to Messi after the Argentina players returned from the dressing room, telling him “you are cowards.”

But the Inter Miami star did not miss the opportunity, saying: “We are world champions, why are we cowards? Pay attention to what you say”.
