River Nile wheat cultivation: 500 Acres

River Nile State in Shendi locality launched (Wednesday) the beginning of cultivating 500 acres of wheat in the Al-Misikatab agricultural project, an event that saw the participation of the Executive Director of Shendi Locality, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, and Eng.Salah El-Din Al-Mamoun, head of the Agriculture Department, Director of Agriculture in Shendi locality, and the agricultural departments officials in addition to farmers from Al-Misikatab scheme.
The Minister of Production, Eng.Salah Ali Mohamed Ahmed, said the partnership of the armed forces SAF in agriculture represents a major boost that led to an increase in the cultivated area within the region and that this would mean an increase in productivity and achieving the ministry’s slogan: one hand produces… and the other carries arms.
He said that they are hopeful the agricultural season will realize food security for the state.
Maj.Gen. Hamdan Abdul Qader, Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division in Shandi, expressed his happiness to partner with the Department of Agriculture to allocate areas for wheat cultivation.
He said all inputs are available for production, affirming they are one hand with the farmers in realizing the slogan (We consume from what we grow).
The Executive Director of Shendi locality, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, pledged to handle all the obstacles facing the agriculture season and assured early preparations for the season are in place.
Head of the Department of Agriculture, Eng.Salah Al-Mamoun, promised that fertilizers would arrive on time for the kick off, completing preparations for farmers and starting cultivation.
