militias shelling crowded Omdurman market
Sudan Events – Follow-ups
Clashes continued on Friday in various areas of the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, between the Sudanese army and the rebel Rapid Support militia (RSF).
A random bombing carried out by the militia in the “Al-Rahma” market in the Al-Gamair neighborhood in Omdurman on Friday left 11 people dead, while dozens of wounded were transferred to “Al-Naw” Hospital, the only functioning public hospital in Omdurman.
The Rapid Support militia used to bomb residential areas crowded with civilians without regard to the consequences of this internationally prohibited act.
The fighting that broke out in Sudan between the Sudanese army and the rebel Rapid Support militia since mid-April has forced more than 5.2 million people to flee their homes to other places inside Sudan, and more than 1.2 million people are seeking refuge in neighboring countries, according to UNMA.
The two sides of conflict engaged in a new negotiating round on 26th, last October, in the city of Jeddah, under American-Saudi sponsorship, as the round ended up without leading to any results.
