Projects to Support Sudan’s Water Sector

The Acting Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources, Dhawalbit Abdul Rahman, l addressing the meeting of the fifteenth session of the Arab Ministerial Council for Water, on Wednesday, in Saudi Arabia, revealed the extent of the damage to water facilities in especially Bahri and Omdurman water stations, as a result of the rebellion of the Rapid Support Forces, which affected the operation of these facilities and negatively affected the lives of citizens.
The session discusses the procedures of the executive plan for the water security strategy in the Arab region to meet the challenges and future requirements of sustainable development, follow up on the 2030 sustainable development plan in the Arab water region, enhance and support Arab cooperation in exploiting shared water resources, discuss a future vision for achieving sustainable water security in the Arab world, and adopt a map inspiring path to achieving sustainable Arab water security.
The technical delegation of the Sudanese Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources presented two projects to support livelihoods in Sudan by supporting the water sector, and a financing project to rehabilitate water desalination plants for Port Sudan.
