IGAD-Horn of Africa envoy Discuss Sudan crisis

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) continued to address the issue of the Sudan crisis resulting from the armed conflict that broke out between the government forces and the rebel Rapid Support militia since mid-April.
Today, Tuesday, Dr. Workneh Qabyinho, Secretary-General of IGAD, held a meeting with the United Nations Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, Hanna Sirois Tetteh.
The meeting touched on issues of peace, security, and the humanitarian situation in general in the IGAD countries, with a special focus on Sudan.
IGAD Secretary said in press statements today that his meeting with the Special Envoy explored ways to ensure the cessation of hostilities and provide humanitarian assistance to our brothers and sisters in Sudan.
Since 2019, Ghanaian Tetteh has served as Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the African Union and Head of the United Nations Office to the continental organization. She has also served as Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
In addition to holding the position of Prime Minister and Chair of the Mediation and Security Council of the Economic Community of West African States.
