Portugals Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo struck one of the finest images of integrity and fair play on football , after he rejected the referee’s decision to award him a penalty kick during his Saudi team’s match, Al-Nassr, against Iran’s Persepolis, in the AFC Champions League.
In the second minute of the match in the fifth round of the group stage of the AFC Champions League, Ronaldo fell inside the Iranian team’s penalty area after contact with a Perspolis defender, so the referee blew his whistle announcing a penalty kick for Al-Nassr.
Immediately after the penalty kick was awarded, Ronaldo ran to the referee, where he indicated to him that there was no penalty kick , the Iranian team player did not obstruct him, as he stumbled while trying to control the ball, as the television replay showed.
Social media platforms around the world circulated Ronaldo’s “wonderful” shot, with global fans singing the praises of the Portuguese legend, who reflects the best moral values of sporting ethics on the stadiums.
