American Expert: UAE Undermines Sudan Peace Efforts
Sudan Event – Follow-ups
The prominent American politician and diplomat, Cameron Hudson, pointed out that he considered the UAE’s provision of new weapons to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the attempt to transfer its activity from Chad to Darfur a threat to efforts aimed to bring peace and end the war in Sudan.
Hudson posted the remarks in his account on the (X) platform, Tuesday adding that the UAE provided weapons to the RSF in Sudan, and these issues may raise a dispute with the army and threaten to undermine a new initiative to end the civil war.
The American former diplomat has described this moment as a very dangerous moment that did not need to occur, and could undermine the progress needed towards peace.
Sudan had earlier accused the UAE of supporting and financing the RSF militia, which has been waging a war against the Sudanese army since mid-April. The accusations were made by Assistant Commander of the Sudanese Army, General Yasser Al-Atta, on November 28.
