Real Madrid issued an official statement about the injury suffered by Austrian defender David Alaba during the 4-1 victory over its guest, Villarreal, on Sunday evening, at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, in the 17th round of La Liga.
Real Madrid said in a statement: “After the tests conducted on our player David Alaba, we found that he suffers from a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, and he is scheduled to undergo surgery in the next few days.”
In the 33rd minute, Alaba suffered a severe knee injury that made him unable to complete the match, as the medical team demanded that he be replaced.
It is noteworthy that Alaba is the third Real Madrid player to suffer a cruciate ligament injury this season, after goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao.
