Plan to Address Mining challenges

The Director General of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company Limited (SMRC), Mohamed Taher Omer, revealed a comprehensive plan to address mining issues in Abu Hamad locality.
During a meeting with representatives of the local community of the mining areas in the locality, the Director stressed the need to take into consideration the rights of local communities and preserving the safety of the environment.
He called for intensive efforts and creation of a work environment to increase production, maximize revenues, and monitoring the produced gold, underlining the importance of coordination with the state government and security services to enhance security aspects in mining areas.
During his visit to Abu Hamad locality today (Wednesday), the Director General of the SMRC held another meeting with representatives of companies working in the field of mining residues (Karta), and discussed with them all challenges facing residues companies and set effective solutions for them.
He stressed the need to pay attention to the environment and increase production to support the national economy in the circumstances that the country is going through.
For his part, the Executive Director of Abu Hamad Locality, Mamoun Majzoub Al-Shaarabi, confirmed his readiness to provide further cooperation with the SMRC, companies working in the field of mining residues, and the local community.
In this context, the Vice Chairman of the Local Community Committee of Abu Hamad Locality, Babiker Abbas, called for more work and intensifying efforts to increase production, stressing the necessity of preserving the environment and the rights of the local community.
Abbas revealed that the locality would benefit from mining revenues following the issuance of Decision No. “90” by the Minister of Finance Dr. Jibril Ibrahim.
Abbas further said that the local community’s share of mining revenues in the year 2022 amounted to more than “12 trillion pounds,” which achieved a major breakthrough in the fields of health, water and electricity, in addition to agricultural projects and the education sector, indicating that the next year will witness the implementation of many local service projects.
