Saudi Federation Increases the Number of Foreign Players

The Saudi Football Federation increased the number of foreign players on club rosters from 8 to 10 players, and also adjusted registered players from 25 to 30 players starting from the 2024-2025 season.

According to the statement issued by the Saudi Federation and the Saudi Professional League, each club must take into account the right to register 10 non-Saudi players, with 8 participating in each match, starting from the 2024-2025 sports season, in accordance with the following requirements:

1 – Eight non-Saudi players without specifying a minimum date of birth.

2 – Two non-Saudi players born in 2003 or older, with the aim of enhancing the investment aspect of talent in the clubs.

3 – Each club continues to have the right to register one professional player (born in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), provided that he is born in 1998 or older.

4 – Each team participating in the Roshan Saudi Professional League has the right to register a maximum of 8 non-Saudi players on the roster for each match, in addition to the professional born in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (with the exception of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup and the Saudi Super Cup competitions, where all competitions can participate. Registered non-Saudi players).
The Football Association stressed in the statement that the decision comes after coordination with the clubs’ support strategy, the management of the national teams and the technical director of the Saudi Federation, in addition to holding a number of workshops with the clubs.
