The distinctive location of North Kordofan State makes it the beating heart of the map of Sudan and a meeting place where the cultures of the people of Sudan, with their Arab and Negro characteristics, communicate. Therefore, it has a unique demographic composition that embodies all the people of Sudan with their various backgrounds.
Folklore and its role in enhancing cultural identity: an applied research on the heritage of Kordofan State. The research prepared by Nadia Ibrahim on folklore, folk songs, and the cultural identity of North Kordofan State.
The research aims at knowing the role of the folklore in consolidating the social co-existence among the tribes in North Kordofan State; as well as strengthening the cultural identity of Kordofan people via the activities and the cultural heritage.
Such documentation will aware the current and future generations with the values of their ancestors and protect the local social culture from disappearance.
The study has come out with several findings the most important of which is that : the folklore reflects the identity and the common culture in the society. Most of the folklore elements discussed were expressed in poetry, wisdom, proverbs, and popular public dancing.
The folklore includes also the material and moral issues inherited from the ancestors to their offspring. The Kordofanian heritage is valuable, distinguished and diversified.
