Brazil Dismisses its Coach Fernando Diniz

Agencies – Sudan Events

The Brazilian national football team is without a coach again after the dismissal of Fernando Diniz from his position, according to what was reported by Agence France-Presse from a source in the local federation.

The dismissal of Diniz (46 years old) from the position that he originally assumed on a temporary basis in July, for only one year, succeeding the other interim coach, Ramon Menezes, a day after the judicial ruling issued by a higher court in Brazil to restore the head of the football federation, Ednaldo Rodriguez, to his position.

The Supreme Court overturned a ruling issued by a lower court that invalidated an agreement between the Brazilian Federation and the Rio Public Prosecutor’s Office, dating back to March 2022, which subsequently allowed Rodriguez to be elected as head of the Federation until 2026.

Brazil received a strongly worded warning from the International Federation (FIFA) and the South American Confederation (Conembul) in more than one letter that included a clear threat to suspend the activity of the national teams internationally in the event of any external interference in the internal affairs of the Brazilian Federation.

The Brazilian national team has remained without a permanent coach since Tite’s departure after exiting from the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Qatar at the end of 2022, leaving the task temporarily to Menezes and then to Fluminense coach Diniz.

Diniz failed to improve the disappointing results of the Seleção, as it suffered three successive defeats last October and November in the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, including a loss at home to the rival Argentine world champion.
