National Mechanism Proposes “Emergency Government”

The National Mechanism for the Support of Democratic Transition in Sudan has submitted a national proposal to stop the war and to set the path for drafting a permanent constitution.
The proposal includes a ceasefire and formation of an emergency government.
The head of the mechanism, Ahmed Al-Tayeb, told a press conference in Port Sudan today (Saturday), that the ideal and permanent solution is to form a national emergency government followed by cessation of hostilities and ceasefire.
He stressed the need to find a draft a legal document for a solution and taking serious steps for a better future for the Sudanese nation.
Al-Tayeb stressed that a competent government must be formed, followed by free and fair elections, so that the country can stabilize and the peaceful transfer of power can take place, which contributes to rebuilding.
For his part, the head of the Executive Office of the Mechanism, Montaser Zain Al-Abidin, said that Sudan is home to all Sudanese, and he pointed out to the importance of national integration for a complete comprehensive solution. He and called for the political solution to national solution away from war leading to security and stability. He revealed that they are in the process of drafting a legal comprehensive vision that will be submitted to be presented to all parties for a permanent ceasefire.
He said it was important to benefit from experts, nationals, and interested parties in order to develop appropriate solutions.
Zain Al-Abidin said that the armed forces are the protector of the country, and that all armed movements should be integrated within the armed forces according to agreed upon principles .
