New Import and Export Controls, Criticized

Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah

The Sudanese Employers Association (SEA) criticized the Ministry of Commerce’s issuance of new controls for extracting the register of exporters and importers, and they called on the Minister of Commerce to cancel them and cancel all procedures that hinder exports and imports. They proposed to the Minister of Commerce to announce the continuation of the old register until the crisis diminishes, and they added, “The authorities must extend the validity of these registers and leave those who want to work without an impediment and until the war ends.” They confirmed that the new controls would lead to major problems with imports.
The SEA’s member Muawiyah Aba Yazeed told (Sudan Events) that the controls that were announced require the provision of documents and commercial licenses, which he considered impossible in light of the war currently taking place in Khartoum, Gezira, Sinnar, White Nile, Kordofan and Darfur states, and most of the exporters’ papers and documents are kept in Khartoum.
