Karti denies Link with Army

Ali Ahmed Karti, Secretary-General of the Islamic Movement in Sudan, has distanced himself from having any connection with the Sudanese army, he also denied having any communication with the head of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan.
The Islamic leader told Asharq Al-Awsat in a an interview over the phone from an unknown location that he had not met Al-Burhan since 2012. At the same time, he denied the alleged relationship between him and the army.
“I have no relationship with the Sudanese army.” He said.
Referring to what the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo “Hemedti,” stated in his statements in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, after he and former Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok signed the “Addis Ababa Declaration” to stop the war. “Hemedti asked me to mediate to resolve the dispute, and this was in the presence of Hassabo Muhammad Abdel Rahman and Al-Dardiri Muhammad Ahmed, but I assured him that I have not met Al-Burhan since 2012, and I have no relationship with him.” Karti Said. “I suggested that he communicates with a person close to Al-Burhan (he did not name him), and he actually contacted him and the differences were resolved, and after that, Hemedti left for Darfur and stayed there for a long period.” He continued.
It is widely reported among opponents of the Islamists that the Sudanese Islamic Movement, led by Karti, was behind the October 25, 2021, coup led by Al-Burhan, and it is based on the fact that the coup returned the supporters of the Bashir regime their money, restored their jobs in the state, and relied on them in his government. In addition to accusing them of being behind the ignition of the ongoing war between the army and the “Rapid Support”, to achieve their desire to return to power carried by the army again.
