Al-Burhan Relieves North Darfur Governor

Sudan Events – Follow-ups

A constitutional decree issued by the President of the Sudanese Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Abdul Rahman Al Burhan, relieved the governor of North Darfur State, Nimr Mohamed Abdul Rahman, from his position.

The decree signed on January 1, called on the parties that signed the Juba Peace Agreement to nominate a substitute for him.

The Governor, who was relieved, recorded a complete absence from his State since the Rapid Support militia mobilized its forces to attack El Fasher, where he went to Juba and remained there until he was discharged from his post.
