Expert: Implement BOT System for Reconstruction

An economic expert stressed the need for those responsible for the war currently taking place in Sudan to pay full compensation for the losses incurred during the war.

The economic expert, Dr. Awadallah Musa, said that because of this war, an entire country was subjected to a violent shock, burning, and destruction. To address what the war destroyed, we need to reconstruct the country within the economic, political, and social framework.

Regarding the economic sector, Awadallah noted the need for an integrated strategy from all state institutions and the private sector, an executive plan and programs, and then budgets, packages and policies.

Rehabilitating the infrastructure that was destroyed in the private sector, which was destroyed and plundered, as well as the banking sector and other economic (industrial, commercial, service) sectors, he said in statement to (Sudan Events):

The productive, industrial and service sectors that were destroyed need a set of policies. Likewise, the losses to which the private sector was exposed need to be compensated. He noted the importance of reconstruction being parallel to all sectors, adding that reconstruction does not take place overnight. Rehabilitating Cooper bridge or refinery requires a period of time and providing budgets so that they are done through untraditional methods, especially with regard to the development theme that requires huge financing, external work (international cooperation), will, comprehensive planning, and unconventional methods, considering it a good opportunity to apply the BOT system (Build , Operate and Transfer) for all the infrastructure that has been destroyed, and the banking sector also needs policies, potentials, and liquidity. He called for making use of experiences of the countries that were affected by the war and then reconstructed and started (Rwanda) and dealing with international institutions, particularly the financiers and sponsors. He stressed that reconstruction and planning require collective thinking, saying, “We need to build a new Sudan, which is a major project”.
