Sudan Events_Nahed Oshi

The Khartoum Water Authority said water purification materials are now being shipped destination ‘Sudan, today, following completion of customs procedures,
It pointed out that this came following extensive communications made by the Governor of Khartoum with all concerned authorities for the purpose of accelerating the completion of procedures.

It indicated that the lack of purification materials is due to the entry of rebel forces into the city of Madani, which hindered the arrival of the materials shipment, already on its way to the Al-Makara water station. The new shipment has to come via Port Sudan.
The time difference for the supply, clearance and shipping work resulted in a severe drinking water shortage that affected the localities of Karari, Omdurman and Ambada.
The meeting of the Higher Committee for Emergency and Crisis Management, which was held today, praised the efforts despite the Water Authority losing all its financial resources that it had obtained through the electricity bill, which has now stopped being collected. The meeting praised the efforts of the Governor of Khartoum and his daily efforts to provide funds to the Authority for facilitation purposes, providing pumps for wells, and hiring water tankers to distribute water to neighborhoods.
The meeting was also briefed on the Authority’s work plan to operate the wells that have stopped working and said pumps should be supplied to these wells. The meeting stressed the need to put all wells in operating mode in anticipation of any developments related to the Manara Water Station.
