Sudan Events – Magda Hassan

Most news from the artistic community continued to come from the Egyptian capital, Cairo, from individuals or groups. Then it united under the banner of the Sudanese Artists Association in Cairo, which suffered from difficulties in the beginning and then set off towards great goals, some of which appeared and others crystallized, and these are some of the features drawn for us by Dr. Adel Harbi, Professor of Drama at the Faculty of Music and Drama, explained that the gathering began after the war: We came to Cairo after the war, and I found the director Zuhair Abdel Karim making great efforts and he suggested to me that we reunite the artists through our relationship that moves us and that it be a gathering of Sudanese artists from all sectors.
Where literature, criticism, and art formed a circle, music was a circle, cinema was a circle, and drama was a circle, four circles joined by the most distinguished people in the artistic community.
Harbi pointed out that he remained an honorary advisor to the group for five months, before moving to the seat of president: I accepted the presidency of the group on the condition that the work be carried out according to departments and an executive office under the supervision of the Egyptian government and the Union of Arab Artists. We started the new arrangement ten days ago and we are still in the process of arranging, and he noted.
My war is that they found all cooperation from the Egyptian government: The Egyptians did their duty with us to the fullest, especially in the social and humanitarian aspect.
We obtained winter clothing and a medical card. Free treatment for Sudanese creators, and these are all gains from the Egyptians through the association.
Harbi hopes that communication will extend further: I believe that if we move away from the political conflict in Sudan, the project will proceed to support creators and artists and extend communication between us and the Egyptians, especially since they have granted us all the rights that are granted to Egyptian creators. Arrangements are still underway with the group of creatives and artists and big and important names to put the work of the gathering in the right direction. Work began in the gathering with the memorials of the late singer Mohamed Al-Amin and then Mohamed Mirghani, and the attendance was very large.
