Equatorial Guinea Explodes the First Surprises in the African Cup

Equatorial Guinea caused the first surprises in the African Cup of Nations, snatching a point from Nigeria by drawing 1-1 with them on Sunday in the second match of the tournament.
Nigeria launched its campaign in the tournament held in Côte d’Ivoire until next February 11, with a disappointing draw at Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan, in the first round of Group A competitions, which the host opened with a victory over Guinea Bissau with two clean goals, on Saturday.
Eban Salvador scored for Equatorial Guinea in the 36th minute, then Napoli’s Italian star Victor Osimhen equalized for Nigeria two minutes later.
Côte d’Ivoire leads the group with 3 points, ahead of Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea, each with a point, and then Guinea Bissau with no score.
In the second round, scheduled for January 18, Equatorial Guinea will play against Guinea Bissau, and Côte d’Ivoire will play against Nigeria.
