Expert Criticizes Fiscal 2024 Budget Classification
Sudan Events – Nahid Oshi
Economist Dr. Mohammed Al-Nayer has criticized classifying Fiscal 2024 budget as a “war budget” as the war is not taking place in the whole country
He argued that it is rather confined to some specific geographical areas, and thus the budget is not supposed to be described as a war budget in the full sense of the word.
He told Sudan Events that there was a contradiction in that it was a war budget and in its concept and explanation, it touched on reconstruction and rebuilding of what was destroyed by war and compensation, and at the same time it talks about the post-war period.
He pointed out to the feasibility of reviewing this budget every six months by the Cabinet to make any subsequent amendments. However, he advised that figures should be withheld and that there should be no announcement about the budget details in the media
