The management of Al-Midan newspaper, a mouth piece of the Sudanese Communist Party, has accused members of the Rapid Support Militia of arresting the newspaper’s Executive Director, and demanded his immediate release.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the newspaper, Fathi Mohamed Al-Fadl, said in a statement Saturday, that the Executive Director of the Al-Midan newspaper affiliated with the Communist Party, Haitham Dafallah, was arrested on Friday from his home in the Al-Geraif neighborhood, west of the capital, Khartoum.
The arrest took was carried out by members of the Rapid Support Forces that control the area.
Al-Fadl issued an urgent appeal to all human rights organizations, the international and progressive press, and the communist and workers’ parties to press for the release of journalist Haitham Dafallah.
He urgently called on them to condemn the arbitrary arrest of journalist Haitham, and that his dignity and safety be assured. He expressed deep concern over the safety and dignity of the arrested journalist and demanded that he be released immediately without delay.
