For Muslims around the world, there are few places as spiritual as Makkah, the Saudi Arabian city that sits at the heart of the Islamic world.
It’s here, the birthplace of Prophet Mohamed , that more than 2.5 million worshippers flock each year to make the annual Hajj pilgrimage. Millions more visit each year as they embark on the Umrah pilgrimage, usually undertaken during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
And now worshippers will be able to pray in a Guinness World Record-breaking space – the world’s highest prayer room within a skybridge.
Unveiled at the Address Jabal Omar Makkah, the new Sky Mussalla is suspended 483 meters above sea level, linking the hotel’s two towers between the 36th, 37th and 38th floors. The 550-square-metre space is able to accommodate around 520 people, and offers a bird’s-eye view of Masjid al-Haram, as well as the Holy Kaaba.
