Officially… The Saudi Al-Ittihad Postpones the Super Cup

The Saudi Football Association announced today, Tuesday, that the date of the Saudi Super Cup tournament for the current season has been postponed, due to the recent amendments made by its Asian counterpart.

The Saudi Super Cup championship competitions were scheduled to be held from February 27th of next year, and its competitions will continue until March 1st of next year for the same year.

The official account of the Saudi Federation website stated on the social networking site “X”: “The Competitions Committee of the Saudi Football Federation decided today to change the date of the local Super Cup tournament, after the amendments made by the Asian Football Confederation to the AFC Champions League calendar.”

The official statement continued: “The Competitions Committee’s decision came in light of the changes made by the Asian Football Confederation to the home and away dates for the round of 16 of the AFC Champions League, as a result of which the date of a number of Saudi Roshen Professional League matches was modified, according to the media statement issued by the Nexus”.

The Saudi Federation statement concluded: “The Competitions Committee is currently working with the relevant parties to set a new date that suits the available times, in accordance with the variables of the continental calendar, and it will be announced as soon as it is approved.”

Al-Ittihad team won the Saudi Super Cup title last season, after its victory over its counterpart Al-Fayhaa in the final match of the tournament, which witnessed the participation of 4 teams for the first time in the history of the tournament.
