The Egyptian government has issued a set of new measures to regularize the conditions of foreigners residing illegally in its territories, and called on them to quickly regularize their conditions and legalize their residency, on the condition that there is an Egyptian host, in exchange for paying administrative expenses equivalent to $1,000, which are deposited in the account designated for that purpose in the General Administration of Passports, Immigration and Nationality, affiliated with the Ministry of Interior
The decision targets all foreigners applying for tourism or non-tourism residency, and they must provide evidence of: 1- Transfer of residency fees. 2- Transferring evidence of the default fine. 3- Transferring the costs of issuing the residence card in dollars or its equivalent in free currencies from a bank or approved exchange companies.
It is noteworthy that the Egyptian Ministry of the Interior has called, more than once, in official statements, on all “guests of Egypt” to quickly begin taking procedures to prove their residency, starting from the first of January 2024, and the General Administration of Passports, Immigration and Nationality in Abbasiya witnessed huge crowds since the beginning of the year, due to the large demand from foreigners who want to regularize their status and prove residency, and who want to obtain travel permission.
