Minister of Interior: Customs Forces, More Efforts is Required

The Ministry of Interior has called on customs forces to exert more efforts to fill revenue gaps in light of the country’s current circumstances.

The Minister of the Interior, Lieutenant General Dr. Khalil Pasha Sarin, stressed the important role of the customs forces in maintaining economic security and combating smuggling in its various forms. The Minister commended the role of the customs forces during this stage that the country is experiencing.

This came during his visit today to the head office of the Sudanese Customs Forces in the northern port, where he was received by the Director of the Customs Forces, Police Lieutenant General Hasab al-Karim Adam Al-Nour, accompanied by the Director of the General Administration, Major General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, and the Director of the Commitment and Guidance Department, Major General Abdel Rahman Badawi Obaid.

The meeting discussed the growing role of the Sudanese Customs Forces during the current crisis the country is witnessing and the ways to support it to carry out this role. Sairin said during a statement published by the Customs media that in light of the increasing reliance on customs forces in the current war conditions, which place a double effort on customs, they are required to give more to fill the revenue gaps on the one hand and stop the bleeding of the economy through smuggling on the other hand.

He said the ministry has been working to provide means to improve the technical and logistical performance and improve the conditions of the anti-smuggling forces in terms of equipment and weapons to secure the country’s ports, especially the northern borders.

“There is no doubt that the customs forces have played an important role in the past period, which deserves praise and appreciation, still much is needed in it performance until the country overcomes its current crisis.” He added.
