Qemam International Festival for Mountain Performance Arts, now in its third edition, invites attendees to explore a captivating array of local and global performing arts.
Showcasing talents from different corners of the Kingdom and across the globe, these performances provide a window into the rich histories of diverse cultures.
Visitors can partake in an intellectually enriching experience through a complementary cultural program and extraordinary events set against the backdrop of 8 historical sites.
During its participation, Sudan presented the art of the Ardha, which is one of the oldest performing arts, where a group of men jump in a harmonious performance with a sword or a stick, and move their feet by raising their knees, wearing the Sudanese costume.
This art is called the Ardha.
They also presented the art of the Kumbla, which is an artistic tradition performed on agricultural harvest days to celebrate the arrival of the new season.
The Kumbla begins when the women line up in a semicircular formation singing alone. In the midst of that scene, men in distinctive Kumbla uniforms enter the parade square, lining up directly in front of the women, led by a young man.
These performing arts represent the culture of the Sudanese people, which express the ancient heritage of the Republic of Sudan, and their famous customs and traditions. They also represent the history of the Sudanese people through their participation in regional and international festivals.
