Northern State: Agricultural Irrigated Areas, Increased

The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Dr. Abu Bakr Al-Bushra, has promised to maintain irrigation pumps in the Northern State in coordination with the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources. He, during his visit this morning to the Al-Qurair Agricultural Project and the extension of the new project as part of his inspection tour to the Northern State, examining production and listening to the problems facing irrigation methods by well, confirmed the Ministry’s support for increasing the irrigated areas.
During his inspection of the Sondos fruit production and packaging factory in Merowe locality, he praised the factory’s role in export operations, supporting local production, and developing work in the horticulture production sector in Sudan, stressing the ministry’s support for all efforts in food manufacturing operations, considering that it has a major role in developing the production sector in Sudan, calling for facilitating all difficulties which hinder investors in the field of food processing operations linked with agricultural production in Sudan in general and the Northern State in particular.
