Burhan Welcomes Algerian Role to Resolve Sudan’s Crisis

The President of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, has affirmed that his government welcomes any Algerian role that contributes to addressing the crisis in Sudan.
Al-Burhan said in a joint press conference with Algerian President Abdelmadgid Tebboune in the capital, Algiers, Sunday, that deep historical ties link the Sudan and Algeria.
He added that the joint discussions touched on a number of issues of common interest, and he explained that he saw a great understanding from the Algerian side about the situation in Sudan.
Al-Burhan praised the President and people of Algeria for their warm welcome and hospitality, and valued Algeria’s support for Sudanese issues in regional and international forums.
The Algerian President has meanwhile welcomed the president of the Sovereign Council and his accompanying delegation, and explained that the Algerian-Sudanese relations are deeply rooted in history. He said that his country will stand by Sudan in order to find solutions to its problems, and pointed to the pivotal role of Sudan in the African continent.
Tebboune stressed the need to resolve disputes peacefully, while believing in the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of countries.
He added that he is confident that Sudan will overcome this current crisis and emerge from it stronger, and stressed that his country, through its membership in the Security Council, will make every effort to resolve Sudan’s issues as a sister country.
Al-Burhan arrived in the Algerian capital today, on an official visit related to strengthening and promoting bilateral relations, accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Director of the General Intelligence Service, and the Director-General of the Defense Industries System.
