Mali Coach: Facing Burkina Faso Like A knockout Blow
Abidjan – Sudan Events
Eric Schell, coach of the Mali national team, confirmed that facing his counterpart Burkina Faso will be a final blow, as the two teams will meet face to face tomorrow evening, Tuesday, at the “Amadou Gon Coulibaly” stadium, in the round of 16 of the 2023 African Nations Championship currently being held in Côte d’Ivoire.
Eric Schell said in the press conference for the match, “Of course, it is a match with a neighboring country, just like we have seen in other matches, but this match is more special because it will be like a knockout. These are always interesting matches and must be handled with caution and confidence.”
The Mali national team coach added, “Burkina Faso has a similar playing style to us, and they enjoy keeping the ball, which ensures a good open football match.”
Shiel continued his statements, saying, “They are playing good football and their coach is experienced. It is a pleasure for us to play against our neighbors. We are looking forward to a good match, as both teams enjoy keeping the ball.”
The Mali national team qualified for the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations after topping Group E with 5 points by beating South Africa (2-0), then drawing two goalless draws with Tunisia (1-1) and Namibia.
