Virgil van Dijk Admits Jurgen Klopp’s Shock Decision

English press reports revealed that Dutchman Virgil van Dijk, captain of Liverpool, decided to postpone the renewal of his contract with the club, after German coach Jurgen Klopp’s decision to leave the team at the end of the current season.

According to The Athletic newspaper, Van Dijk will not renew his contract with Liverpool at the present time, until the club’s new coach is appointed to succeed Jurgen Klopp.

The newspaper pointed out that Van Dijk’s future with the Reds has become ambiguous after Jurgen Klopp’s decision, as the player will wait until the club announces his new coach, before deciding his position whether to improve or leave.

The contract of the 32-year-old veteran Dutch defender expires in the summer of 2025, and he joined the Reds in January 2018, from Southampton.
